AUSTRALASIAN WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.
ARRIVAL OF DELEGATES. By the Union S.S. Company's-steamer Mararoa, which arrived here from Sydney yesterday morning, forty-four Wesleyan Methodist clegymen and a number of laymen landed here from Australia in order to attend the annual conference of the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Australasia, which opens in the Pitt-street Wesleyan Church next Wednesday. The following clergymen arrivedby the Mararoa, representing all the provinces of Australia: —Revs. Bickford, C. Lancaster, E. J.Watkin, Groves, Wheen, W. Williams, W. Dunning, J. Beale, Dr. Brown, Lane, W. Clark, W. Jeffries, R. Bavin, A. J. Webb, J. E. Carruthers, H. Williams, W. H. Beale, W. H. Rodgers, J. Woolenough, H. Youngman, J. E. Moultou, Dr. Sellars, W. W. Kutledge, A. Hutchison, W. H. Fitchett, J. Nicholson, T. Adamson, J. A. Marsland, E. W. Nye, J. Haslam, S. Knight, F. Neale, W. A. Langsford, C. T. Newman, J. B. Stephenson, H. H. Teague, J. D. Langsford, H. T. Burgess, J. Couperwaite, R. Kelly, B. S. Casely, J. Berry, G. E. Rowe andH. Bath. On the voyage across two entertainments were given in the saloon of the steamer. At the close of the second the sum of £59s was collected towards the funds of the Shipwrecked Seamen's Society. _ The pulpits of the Wesleyan Churches in the city and suburbs were occupied yesterday by several of the ministers who arrived by the Mararoa. At noon to-day a number oj the Australian delegates left by special train for Rotorua, in order to see the wonders of the Hot Springs district. Tney will return in time for the opening of toe Conference on Wednesday. The present General Conference is the eighth yet held, and the second held in New Zealand, the first having been held in Christchurch m 18S4. ~ -:
