THE MARAROA-A SMART TRIP.

The s.s. Mararoa arrived at 7.45 a.m. yesterday morning after a very fast passage of 3 (Lays 14 hours. She has a large passenger list and is deeply laden with caro-o. Throughout the trip across an avera"e°speed of 14-9 knots per hour was maintained. Mr A. C. Walker, the purser, to whom we are indebted for files, reports :— The s.s. Mararoa left U.S.S. Company's Margaret-street wharf at 4.15 p.m. 3rd inst., cleared the Heads 4.45, sighted the Three Kings 2.30 p.m. on 6th, passed Tin Tiri 6.30 a.m. 7th, and made fast to wharf at 7.45 a.m. Experienced fine weather throughout the trip.
