DUNEDIN, this day.

The annual meeting of the Presbyterian Synod of Otago and Southland was formally opened last evening. The Rev. W. Will was appointed Moderator. Considerable interest is taken in the question of union with the Northern Church, and those who oppose the proposed basis meet to-day to take common ground.
