At the inquest on Saturday as to the cause of the death of James McLean, the following verdict was returned :—- " That deceased died at the hospital from inflammation of the brain, the result of wounds received by a blasting accident in a quarry at Owharoa.
The cricket season opened on Saturday, when for the first time in the history of the local Association eight teams took their places, in the field. In the senior division Foundry defeated Tararu, last season's champions, by 48 to 14. Rovers scored a win over United by 41 to 36. Amongst the juniors the School of Mines and Kopu teams defeated High School and Tararu. 11. respectively.
