Mahuki has been committed for trial at the next sittings of the Supreme Court on ' a charge of arson at Te Kuiti. He was brought down from Te Awamutu, where the ease was heard, and lodged in Mount Eden Gaol, A four-roomed cottage at Northcote was destroyed by lire on Saturday night. The building, which was unoccupied at the time, belonged to Mrs Somerviile, a widow. Nothing is known as to the origin of the lire.
