MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS. An extraordinary general meeting- of Se office of the Company, 71, Queen"reet There was a good attendance, and 103119 shares represented. Air Graves Aic'kin (chairman of directors piefL The meeting was called to consider the following resolution :- "Thatthe directors of the Company are hereby empowered to deal with the reserve shares of the Company (or as many of them » may he necessary) by way ot compensation to those persons who now koid shares which have been illegally created upon payment by them of the sum of Hd per share to cover calls and expense." _ In opening the proceedings the Chairman said the meeting was duly constituted. The circumstances under which they met were known to all of them. The question of bo<ms shares in the Company had been a causeof great anxiety to the directors, and they were convinced the right thing was to compensate those who held these bogus shares. The Chairman then formally moved the resolution as given above. Mr J. Thornes seconded. Mr Howard moved as an amendment, "That the halfpenny as expenses be struck oat, and that only the one penny (as call) he charged to holders of the bogus shares."' Mr Joshua Jackson seconded pro forma. Mr J. G. Ralph said for the other side it to unfair to "haggle" over £16. The raoters of the Company had nothing to with the bogus shares. They were giving away the whole of their reserve shares created by the Royal Standard Extended, who had put into [he new Company a rater right, besides losing £60 or £70 and 6,000 or 7,000 shares. MrG. South suggested the amendment should be withdrawn. They 4 should be unanimous. The amendment was then withdrawn. The resolution was then put and carried unanimously. A vote of thanks was also accorded to the directors • for their able efforts in settling- the difficulty of the disputed shares. The meeting then separated.
