Wellington, this day. The Friendly Societies' Conference, through the Secretary, Mr H. Garrett, have communicated with the Hon. Jennings re getting a permit to hold an art union on January 29th. All the Auckland member.! of both" Houses have been approached and will support the application for a permit as .the object of the Conference is not personal gain. The matter has been placed before the Colonial Secretary, who will communicate his decision through the Hon. Jennings. The matters affect several thousands of persons.
