WRECK OF A BARQUE.
A Valparaiso despatch to the San Franico "Chronicle" on August 2nd states that Captain Newhallof the barque Nonantum, of Seattle, has arrived with a part of his crew and reports the loss of his vessel on May 27th. The Nonantum was bound for Panama from Newcastle, with a cargo of coal. While passing Eastern island and in charge of a Kanaka, the pilot ran her on the rocks off Isla Pascua, which belongs to Chile. All the members of tbe crew were saved. Six of them are still on the island under the protection of the authorities Captain Newhall met with a serious accident ten days previous to tbe wreck, while lie was at the wheel during a storm. He is now on the fair road to recovery. Ihe captain owned one-fourth interest m the Nonantum. United States Consul Dobbs has done everything possible for the relief of the captain and bis sailors, and has taken steps to have the six men on the island brought to Valparaiso.
