CARRIAGE OF FRUIT
LONDON, Sept. 8. Mr Young, manager of the Soul!
Australian Produce Depot in London, has been making inquiries in reference to the carriage of fruit between California and England, lie learns that American pears arc carried in a temperature ranging from 38 to *J0 degrees, that the juiciest fruit stand the lowest temperature, California!! pears arriving in splendid condition after 17 days' carriage by train and steamer. The space of hold allowed carbonic gas to be withdrawn. All fruit could be carried better if cooled before shipment.
