THE SHAREMARKET.
Business showed some improvement on the Exchange to-day. Sales took place of New Zealand Insurance at 70s, and South British at 50s. There was a better demand for shares in mining companies, and more sales resulted. Crowns were dealt in at 25s and 25s 3d, with still further buyers at the former price. Talismans also had firm buyers at 10s Gd and Moanataiaris at lis 3d. Kuranui - Caledonian shares firmed a little, 3s Od being offered. Alburnias were firm with buyers at 4s, but May Queens on the other hand were offered at a concession. Grace Darlhigand Portseas had improved, demand with sales of the hitter at 9kl, while no Grace Darlings were offered under 2s 4d. Bunkers Hill shares were still wanted at 2s, but sellers offered to quit at 2s 3d. Harbour Views are still' being quietly picked up at 3d, and Progress Castle Rocks at Sd and Bid. Transactions also took place in Ohineinuris at 5.U1, Ivanhoes at 7d, Young New Zealand shares tit 3d, Waihi Consols at stl and Waihi Extendeds at Is (JAd. An inquiry set in this morning for Sheridans at 2s, while Golden Horn shares changed hands at Gd. In Great Barrier stocks sales were reported of lonas at ls (id aud Kaitoken at 7{,d. Generally speaking, there seemed a greater disposition to do business to-day on the Exchange, due, no doubt, to (he fad. thai, private cable advices from London state that market has an upward tendency.
