THE HAWESBURY HANDICAP.
Sydney, September 4. The Hawesbury Racing Club held their Spring Meeting to-day. The following was the result of the principal event -. — Hawkesbury Handicap.—One mile Wo furlongs and 100 yards. Mr F. Fielder's eh h Parthenopaeus, syrs, by Splendor—Atalanta, Bst 81b 1 Mr W. Ivelso's br g The Captain, aged, * 7st9lb .... 2 Mr W. Bailey's eh c Metford, 3yrs, 6st 101b 3 Twenty horses started. Betting : 7 to 1 against Parthenopaeus, 5 to 1 The Captain, 10 to 1 Metford. A splendid race, the winner just snatching a victory from The Captain, while Metford, who looked like a winner, was only beaten by a head for second place. Time, 2min 16,-jsec.
