MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
YESTERDAY,
(Before MrH. W. Brabant, S.M.) James Matthews v. George Loram.—lu this case plaint,iff. a clothes-horse seller, sought to receive £.11 Is, medical expenses incurred by him in consequence of an assault alleged fco have been committed by defendant.—Mr Mahony appeared for tho plaintiff and Mr Cotter defended.—ln evidence ib waa stated thab defendant, who is licences of tho Pier Hotel, assaulted tho plaintiff in consequence of a remark made by the latter.—Dr. King deposed thab tho injuries sustained by plaintiff might have, been caused by such a blow as defendant was said to havo struck.— Plaintiff, in cross-examination, said ho had gone back to Mr Loram tho next evening,, taking another man with him, who cc.uld be a witness of any further assault,.—Mr Cotter, for bhe defence, submitted thab that was a peculiar action for r_ man who had boon so roughly handled us plaintiff said ho was.—Defendant Haid that Macfcbewe waa intoxicated at bhe time, and used very violent and abnsivo language towards him. Witness doniod ever tilting his hand to strike tho plaintiff.—Witnesses on both sides were examined, and too case was finally adjournod till Friday.
