The battery works of this company are to be improved by the addition of a reverberatory furnace, in order to subject the sulphide ore from the north-eastern section of the mine to a roasting process prior to treating ib with cyanide. The experiments which have boen conducted at the company's laboratory show that a higher percenbage of bullion may be extracted bhan hitherto, aba slightly enhanced cost, and now it is deemed advisable to put these experiments to actual proof, by working testa of 10 to 12 tons per day, bbis being about the capacity of the small plant that is to be erected. The total oubpub of bullion from this mine since 1890 amounts to £552,797 ss. Tho erection of the new pumping engine ab this mine has now beep completed. The solid bed of concrete foundation ib 14fb thick, and bhe engine is of 250 horse-power, the balance-wheel being I4ft in dismeter, and weighing 10 tons, and,the fly-wheel is 10ft, and weighs nine tons. The multitubular boiler is of 40 horse-power, Before long the new pump will be in position, when driving will be started ab bhe 200fb level, and sinking resumed. The inflow o( water is about 4,500 gallons an hour.
