The yacht Lizzie wan badly damaged recently off the coast of New Ireland. Her owner wan cruising among tho islands with the objecb of collecting flora and fauna. She struck a reef at New Ireland, bub gob off and proceeded to the Solomons, where she was condemned as unseaworthy.

. The New Zealand Shipping Company have invited tenders for eteamere for the direct trade. The vessels aro to be twin screw steamers, averaging 12 knobs, and while providing less cargo space than the Rakaia, Mataura, and Waimate, will have more extended passenger accommodation.

Additional particulars re the wreck of the Wealeyan Mission schooner Mf3da, Btate that the disaster was brought aboub by the vessel missing stays. She is a hopeless wreck, her masts being gone and the rocks being through her botbon. She was bought for £10 by Dr. Brown, of tho Mission trust, who carries on salvage operations.

The "Fiji Times" says: "H.M. ships Royalist and Lizard are once more gracing tho port of Suva, after a cruise to the eastward, embracing Samoa, etc. Both ships Bailed from Samoa in company, and the run waa made under canvas. The Royalist, the larger veseel, made the bettor voyaging, arriving at Suva in five days, while the Lizard ws*s 5£ days on the voyage."
