A NOTABLE DUEL.
PRINCE AND NOBLEMAN
FIGHT WITH SWORDS.
HENRY OF ORLEANS
SERIOUSLY INJURED
Romic, August 15. The duel between the Comte de Turin and Prince Henry of Orleans, which arose out of the charges of cowardice against the Italian troops in Abyssinia, was fought to-day, swords being the weapons chosen. Prince Henry of Orleans was wounded slightly in the breast, but seriously in the abdomen in the duel with the Comte de Turin. The latter only received a slight wound in the right hand. The duel was fought in the Bois Vancresson at St. Cloud, and was a sharp and determined encounter, lasting 26 minutes. In the first assault Prince Henry of Orleans was saved Irom a stab by his upper trousers button. In the filth Prince Henry received a wound on the right side of the lower abdomen. His second thereupon stopped the duel. The doctors state that if the wound had been inflicted half a centimetre further it would have penetrated the intestines. When the wound had been dressed the Prince resumed the contest, and vigorously assumed the offensive, until he was touched in the right breast by his opponent's sword. In the second round, which was fought at close quarters, the seconds interfered. In the third round the Comte de Turin received a cut on the back of the hand. In the fourth round Prince Henry's sword was bent against Turin's hand, and the latter agreed to the suspension of hostilities, and immediately afterwards started on his return to Italy. Prince Henry of Orleans afterwards walked to his carriage, in which he was conveyed to the resideuce of the Due de Chartres. No important organ was touched Ly the wound, and the Prince is doing well. The result of tlie duel was received with much delight in Italy. The Emperor of Germany sent his congratulations to the Comte de Turin.
