PUPIL-TEACHERS EXAMINATIONS.
LIST OF PASSES.
At bhe meebing of the Auckland Board of Education to day the Chairman aubmitted the lisb of successful pupil beachera candidates for employmenb under th« Board who had passed the exaiainafciona held last month. A seminary of results stated that there were in all ti -, amined : 109 candidate* for etuployioe n t 23 firsb-year pupil teachers, and J,\ second-year pupil teachers; total ig| of whom 38 were males and 128 females! Of candidates 58 passed and 51 failed '• first year pupil teachers, 22 passed and oqq failed; second year pupil teacher*, J2 passed and two failed. In all 29 m»lee»ncj 83 females passed the examinations, and nine malos ;md 45 femaloa faiied. The standard of qualification was 50 per cant, of the aggregate number of marks !q a || subjects ; 50 per cent, each in reading, writing, spelling and dictation ; and 39 per cenb. each in ail other subjects except) drawing, singing and needlework.

It waß resolved to give all the S8 candidatee who passed immediate psrmuiion to attend the nearest schools for practice in teaching for three mouths, withoai guaranteeing them employment. Mr Luke commented on the dispirit? between the numbers of mala and female candidates, and Mr Udy said this showed thab the service ef the Board was n»' attractive to yuung men.
