The quesbion of Sunday observance, arising oub of a recenb resolution of the Auckland Ministers' Association, was referred bo in several ciby pulpits yesterday. The Rev. A. H. Collins, of the Ponsonby Baptist Church, President of the Association, referred to the subjecfa yesterday forenoon in a sermon on tho fourth commandment, and raised objections from the ecclesiastical point of view to young men, especially members of churches, going bicycling or riding on horseback on Sunday, and urged on his hearers the desirability of Sabbath observance. In the evening Mr Collins preached on "Christian Endeavour," it being the anniversary of the Christian Endeavour Society of the church. Special anniversary services wore held at the Devonport Presbyterian Church yesterday and were well attended. The Key. John McKenzie, of the Thames, conducted the services. At the Albert street Salvation Army Barracks yesterday special welcome meetings wore held on the occasion of the arrival by Captain and Air* Wymmons in Auckland as permanent head officers of the Army. At Sb. Benedict's Romaa Catholic Church, Newton, yesterday, His Lordship tho Right Rev. Dr. Lenihan celebrated Pontifical High Ma*>-, yesterday being the patronal feast of the parish. Hia Lordship was assisted by the Very Rev. Dr. Egan, 0 5.8., with tho Rev-. Purton, 0.5.8., Giltan, Buckley, and O'Uallugher as attendant deacons, and the Rev. Brodie as Master of Ceremonies. The choir eang Haydn's Imperial Mas?, with organ and oichsstral accompaniment, under the couduefcorship of Mr H. T. Bosworth. The first and second violins were led respectively by Messrs Prime and Yafces. The soloists were Misses Lily Thomson, Conway, Danzey, Mrs Bosworth, Messrs Casier and P. Dufaur. At Pontifical VesDors the Ray. Father Kehoe preached on the "Life and Order of St. Benedict." The choir, conducted by the Rev. Dr. E.,'an, rendered music of a festal nature.
