THE SHAREMARKET.
Standard stocks had an upward tendency today on the Exchange. Buyers of Auckland Gas shares advanced bboir offers ior old issuo to £15, and for new to £10 10s, this being higher than any rate hitherto reached by this stock ; still no sale resulted, South British Insurance wore inquired for at 45s tid, and Now Zealand do. at 725, bub no sales resulted. In" mining shares, Four - in, Hand shares advanced a littlo, sales being made at Is lid, and tho same price waa olFored for Wolcoino Finds without shares changing hands. Britannias sold at lOd and bunker's Hills ab 2.s 'id. Fiery Croee, Iwnhooß, Cuirassiers, Now Wliaus and Golden Point-' all showed an upward tondency. Alburnia phareß advanced a little, 4s .'id boing offered, but none were forthcoming at that price. Puru Consolidated shares woro wanted at 2s 9d, and the same price was ofl'ercd for Sheridans, but holders did not quote Waihi eharos wero enquired for at £7 ss, but higher pricp would be paid. A dividend of Is ppr m has beon declared by the New Zf■•;■■.. Crown Company, which should hul;j . improve matters at Home.
