PAEROA NOTES.

(BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.)

Paeroa, this day,

At a meeting of bhe Ohinemuri County Council yesterday afternoon, Messrs Seaver Bros, were granted £150 for work done by them on the Marototo Road.

A le&ter from the Mining Regisbrar was read, informing the Council that he had been instructed to reverb to the former method of paying county revenues into the Native Lands Department, instead of direct to the Council, which involved a delay sometimes of eight or nine months before the county received it. Ib was resolved to write to the Minister of Mines strongly protesting against its reversion from the present method, which has proved greatly superior to the old method.

Application was received from Messrs Twentyman an Montgomery on behalf of a syndicate asking for 75 years' concession for lighting the township of Paeroa with gas. Mr Metcalfe appeared in support, but ib was decided to consult) the county solicitor as to what right) the Council has for (granting lighting eoncesßions. Anobber application from H. Atkinson was received for lighting the towu with gas. This also was deferred.
