Maori Abdociton Case. —Wabono Kara, a young Maori, waß charged with having abducted a Maori girl named Haromi Repoka (Rebecca), under 16 years of age, from her father's charge at Gi*borne.— Sergeant Clarke said thab the accused had been remanded in order to allow him to ba baken to Gisborne for trial by the b.b. Anglian. As thab steamer, however, waß delayed, the police wished a remnnd bill this afternoon, when the accused would be sent to Gisborne by bhe s.b. Dingadee.—A remand was granted accordingly, the accused to appear at the Uisborne Court on the 6th inst.
Theft.—Joseph Mulligan was fined 40s and 16s cost, or in default 14 days' imprisonment, for stealing a waterproof coat valued at £2 10s, the property of Andrew Lang. Dismissed. —An old man named Robert Irwin was charged with stealing a coat and vest, valued at 21s, the property of the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. —The evidence showed that) the man was an inmate of the Costley Homo at Epsom, had gone away with a suit of clothes supplied to him by the Board, and had sold the articles in question to a Becond-hand denlor.—T»he Bench considered thero was a legal doubb aa to whether the act) was one of thefb when the man had been given the clothes to wear by the Charitable Aid Board. — Tha case was dismissed.
Alleged Forgery. — A man named Alfred Adams was charged wibh having forged a cheque in the name of T. C. Hutchison and Co., to the amount of £4 10s, and with having uttered the Bame to one David Palmer. —A remand was granted till th.B 9th iojsfc.
