FOOTBALL IN WAIKATO.
(BY TELEOBAPH, —OWN COKRKRFONDENI.)
Hamilton, this day. Football matches under the auspices of the Waikato Rugby Union were continued on Saturday laefc. Te Awamutu met Huntly ab Hamilton, and, after a most interesting game, the latter won by 4 to 0. Huntly played only 12 men, but had much the best of the game. During the first spell M. Gleeson potted a beautiful goal from a mark ab the half-way flag, and bhis was the only Bcore during the game. This victory gives Huntly a decided lead in the competition, and which ever team beats bhem must win. Ngaruawahia and Whatawhata met ab Ngaruawahia, and the Maori conbingenb easily defeated bheir opponents by 17 points to five. They were far too heavy for the pakehas, and played wibh great dash. The backs took bhe ball, passed and kicked wibh great judgment, and had things all their own way, much to the disgust of the spectators. Rore Edwards was responsible for 14 points, obtaining four tries and converting one.
