The Record Reign.
A SPLENDID SOUVENIR,
The illustrated chronicle of Her Majesty's reign published as a special Diamond Jubilee number of the New Zealand 11 Graphic" has only been issued three days, yeb in thab shorb time tho first edition, which, in anticipation of a great demand, was exceptionally large, has been Bold oub. Another edition is now roady, co thab everyone who desires to preserve a titling memorial of bhe longeßb and mosb illustrious reign in English hisbory may do so. On all hands we hear the publication mosb highly spoken of. Ib appears to have given the greatest satisfaction to all who have seen ib. The high artistic excellence of the illustrations, which form a pictorial biography of Her Majesty, and depict all the greab functions in which she has taken part has been widely commented on, und the special articles in connection with the reign are a valuable addition to the history of the time by well-known writers in the Old Country and here. Ib may be Bafely said that in no other publication is there contained such a full resume of the marvellous progress of the British nation during tbo laeb sixty years, and of the life of bhe sovereign lady who baa reigned over tbo Empire through these eventful years. The chronicle ib » thing bo be read by everybody, but ib is also a thing to be preserved •for our children to read after us. One very interesting feature of ib is the pictures of tho principal towns of the colony as they appear now and as they appeared ab the time of Her Majesty's accession, The contrast there presented ia a more speaking tesbimony to the progress of the colony than any verbal description could possibly be. Ib is a contrast thab would perhaps strike our friends in the Old Country more than ib does us who have witnessed the changes, and for thab reason these pictures are likely to be more appreciated ab Home than in the colony. The general geb up of the Record Reign " Graphic " is eleganb, and altogether ie forma one of the beab momentoes of the greab Jubilee year thab we could send bo our friends abroad or lay aside carefully on our own book-shelves. The price ia sixpence.
