As the Police Court thia morning William Andrew Rattray wob charged with stealing jewellery and quartz specimen., the property of John Sainsbury, of Whanj.'amatn, 6n or aboab the 19th March. Serjeant Gillies applied for A remand, which was granted for eight days. Accused :is at present under commitbal to the Supname Court on another charge of theft. The value of the rateable fToperty in thes three wards of the borough l.otals £29,500, an excels of £6,000 over lasfs year's assessment. Ab the Assessment Court only £121 was allowed in reductions.
