MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.
Albion (Whangamata).—Since starting operations we have discovered several quartz outcrops on this property, and are now opening these oub to ascertain size, quality, etc. • The atone is of a very promising appearance.
Zone (Whangamata).—No. 5 drive bas been extended a further distance of Bft through highly mineralised sandstone. Anobher reef 2fb wide ab oubcrop has been discovered.
York (Whangamata).—Prospecting and trenching for further reefs has been proceeding during the past week, but so far nothing of importance bas been meb with.
Maoriland Gold Mines (Ltd). — Tbe manager reports the work done during four weeks ending March 16bh as follows :—No. 4 lode, upper drive to No. 1 : Distance driven 29ft, total distance since commencing 47f_. No material change has occurred ; the vein continues abont 4fb wide, and carries solid quartz which gives a few colours of gold by panning. Drive on leader above Black Jack workings : Disbance driven 34tb ; total diebance, 64ft. So far, nobbing of a definibo nature has been meb with, the ground ia traversed by Beveral stringers carrying quartz, but only braces of gold are obtained by panning. Low level from beach : Distance driven 97ft, total distance, 165 ft. The ground has become a little firmer, but still requires heavy timbering. The work of driving is still boing carried on by contract. The main drive on the Black Jack has boen cleaned oub, and we are following a portion of the vein that branches to the N.E.
