(Before Messrs E. Baker and Edward Wil-
liams, Justices of the Peace.) Drunkenness. — Two firsb offending drunkards were fined 5s each, in default 24 hours' imprisonment.—- Edward Murphy was fined 20s or in default 48 hours' imprisonment.—Jane McManus, for a second offence, was sentenced to pay 40s, or go to gaol for 48 hours.—Mary Brown was fined 20s or in defaulb 4S hours. —
Adam McKeown, charged with drunkenness, said he wished for a prohibition order bo be taken oub againab himself.—The Bench eenb him to gaol for seven days' hard labour, telling him he could apply for the prohibition order when he came out.—Annie McCarroll, for drunkenness and dieorderly conduct, was fined ss, or 24 hours in gaol.
Obscene Language.—Annie McCarroll was further charged with using obscene language last night in Grey-sbreot, and was senbenced bo bhree monbhs' imprisontnenb with hard labour in Mount Eden Gaol. .
Struck Oct. —A charge againsb Thoma? Casblehow of having sbolen £1 7s 6d, the property of Samuel Hardy, was struck out, no evidence being oflered for the prosecution. Ib waß stated that the matter had been settled, and thab bhere was no criminal intent on bhe parb of bhe accused.—Mr Cobber appeared for the accused and Mr Indea for tho prosecutor. Alleged Assault and Robbery,—A young man named Wm. Small was charged Wifch having lasb nighb assaulbed and robbed one Wm. Henry Stead, stealing tho sum of £1 7s from him.—A remand was granted till the 17th inst.—Sergeant Clarke said that lasb nighb bhe accused lefb the Shamrock Hotel in company with a sailor named Sbead belonging bo the American barque Porbland Lloyds in the harbour. After going round the corner of the hotel Small struck Stead and knocked him down and stole the sum of £1 7s oub of his pocket, .
