ALLEGED ASSAULT AND ROBBERY.

Gisborne, this day. A fisherman named Patrick Morris has been committed for trial on a charge of having, on Saturday nighb lasb, assaulted one Sarah Cameron, in Gladstone Road, and robbed her of £10 16s. Mrs Cameron deposed thab accused accosted her in bhe street) aboub nine o'clock at nighb. She Baad he bad made a mistake, bub he followed her, and presently swung his arm round and struck her, and knocked her down.. Accused ran away, and she found bhab her pocket had been turned inside oub. Her pocket contained ten £1 notes and about 16s in silver, the notes being tied together in a roll. The notes, silver and her handkerchief bad all gone. Morris was arresbed as he was leaving for Napier, and eleven £1 notes in a roll were found inside his shirt.
