THE MARRIAGE LAWS.

Ohbistohuboh, this day. At the Women's) Council yesterday afternoon the following resolutions by Mrs Sievwrigbt were passed unanimously :—I. "That the Council ia of.opinion thob bhe marriage laws of New Zoa!and ehould bo randered remedial, not tnerely palliative or tbo disabilities at present K i-ievoußly : hflecnins married women, and that to tbia end the whole law relating to marriage, founded on the old doctrine of possession, should bo repealed.' % If?** in the eye of the law every married woman dbonld bo held to bharo and eharo alike the earnings or facomo ot uer husband, a'ld if sho al#o earn money it shall ko into (he common treasury. o. -That every facility shall bo given to women abany time requiring !b, either thet her share of the joint- income unould too paid to her separate occounb, or that ftei name should be included with that of her huwbaad in their common bank account. 4 •' That no guardian should be appointed by either parent to act affcer the death of one parent unless tbs court shall be satisfied that the survivor is incapable of acting alone." Mrs Bullock (Wanganui) read a papar advocating that the unemployed difficulty should, be dealb with directly by fcho State, particularly by the nationalisation of the Iftnd, and the establiahinenb of Sfcato farms.
