MINE MANAGERS REPORTS.

Hauraki Reefs.—The south lead, which is four inches thick, looks well here, and has shown blotches of gold when broken down. In the third sbope the footwall lead shows occasional blotches of gold. Ab the intermediate level the load has varied from ten inches to three, with various stringers crossing the face of drive The lewd has shown blotches of gold when broken down. No, 3 lead is about throe feet thick at present, in fine looking country. Sterling. — Bunches of conglomerate quartz and flint are occasionally nieb with, some of which upon being tested gives traces of gold. The lode cannot bo far ahead of the pte?enb face. Argosy.—Although the reaf has decreased in thickness Bince lasb breaking down, the ore appears of better-quality. A small quantity of rich atone has been taken. The stringers in the dig appear about to junction with the reef. Waimarie.—The country is a splendid sandstone. I hope to meet with the ft. 2 reef in a week or two. Am meeting With detached pieces of nice-looking quartz in the.face of the drive.

Dawn of Hope.—A flinty leader about six inches thick has been cut.

Herald (Whangamata).—The reef ought to be in hand in another 20ft of driving.

King of Whangamata.— The country Is interspersed with small stringers of quartz.

Marco Polo (Whangamata).—The crosscut coutinues through tho same country aB laet reported, with perhaps more quartz running through it.

Bunker's Hill —The main crosscut is penotrating good sandstone, and is now in 339fb from the shaft. Good progress is being made with sinking the winze. This week's breaking down ehowe the reef smaller and somewhat disturbed. It has, however, the appearance of making again. In the north-west end the reef is a good solid looking lode, and is 9in in width. No quartz was taken down in the atope this week.

Golden Tokatea.—Stephen reef, which runs, through bhe centre of the property, was cut in the trench on Thursday. It is a nice body of quartz one foot wide. The. encasing country rock has a good appearance for gold.

, Phce.nix.— The hangingwall portion of the reef gives fair prospects of coarse gold by mortar test.

Golden Link.—The new reef is making again, and is encased in blue sandstone, which ia heavily mineralised.

Crown Royal.—There are strong indications of the close proximity of a reef in the. Crown Royal face. The country is full of silica and mineral veins.

New Mint. — The crosecub is passing through fair shooting country.

Caspian.—The hard rib of ground has entirely cutout, and been replaced by good sundatone. In the North drive tho reef should be cub in another 50 feet.

Great United,—The new reef is 2ft 6in wide, bub uoof- not prospect yet.

Aorkre.—ln the low level at the last breaking down the reef was 2ft wide, bub no goid was seen, yet the qu >rtz whoa pounded gave a splendid prospect.

Invicta.—The east branch leader has shown gold more freel" in the stone this week.

Golden Anchor.—At the low level the reef maintains its size and promising appearance.

Wynyardton.—The prospecting shafb is down 20fb, and on Saturday quarlz was showing, bub still undefined.

Prospect.—The main crosscub is in 575 ft, and veins of quanz are being mot with.

Nil Desperandum. —No. 2 kvol has been cleared out and gob ready for making a sbart. Five men are employed on bhe mine.

Juno.—The reef in the sbopes over Noi 3 drive going north and south is very small, bub a little crushing stone ia being obtained.

Midas. —The top crosscut is passing through good class of country with small veins of quartz through ib.

Cuirassier.—No. 1 lode has increased in size to 18 inches. Strong blotches of gold are seen ab every broaking down. Another lode baa beet, opened out 50ft easb of the Four-in-Iland. This lode is showing improvement, the ore being of the same quality as tho obliero.

Wheal Bassett.—No. 3 crosscpb is in 143 feet.

Wealth of Nations.—An outcrop of quartz and sundhbone has been cut, bub does not look promising at present.

Welcome Find.—At No. 1 level the Welcome lode averages four inches in width, and chows dabs and colours of gold occasionally, and the manager expects to got pioked atone at'eny breaking down. Nkw WhaU.—The winze on the resf is down 40tb. About half way down the winze a start will be made to cub through the drive; the lode was stripped and broken down for s?t. The ore is quite up to the average of that previously reported. Jupiter.—Tho contractors for tha low level are making fair progress.

Golden Lead, —Heavy rain caused a big slip over bhe mouth of bhe drive.

Alburnia East.—The break has had bhe efface of narrowing down bho lode to a mere -earn. In tho face, however, the lode is now making apparently strong again with defined walls. There is a lob of waber coming from the face of the drive.

Adelaide.—Communication is now effected with the winze, and ample ventilation secured. The whole of the quartz stripped has been broken down and nice colours of gold were seen in the quartz. Hauraki No. 2.—Tbt) shaft has been timbered down bo the well and bhe pump lowered.

Conquering Hero,—The rise on Conquering Hero lode i& up 60, and now connects with the old workings. The reef looks well right up.

King Solomon.—We came on a reef last Friday, since which wo have been employed stripping bbc surface. I should say the reef ia four bo five feet. It ia running east and west.

Kaiser.—The reef has improved very much. It shows gold freely by pounding and gives splendid prospects. During the week a break displaced the reel, but ib has been picked up again and is a Hue body of stone fully 2ft 6in wide. The gold ia of high claes, and every foot driven bhe reef gets better. By next Wednesday bhe ten bon breab parcel should be ready.

Superb.—During bhe week we cut another reef in the trench in bhe southern end of the property, aboub 18 inches wide, and composed of a brown quartz and ironstone.
