PITIFUL APPEALS TO BE BROUGHT

Fok some time past urgrenb appeals have been received by the Queensland Government from meoabtars of the Now Australian colonists at Paraguay for assistance to enable them to return to their former homes in Queensland, Some of these appeals h»Te been very pitiful, and the Government have decided to pay travelling and other requisite expenses to all those in respect of whom proper evidence is produced that charity ia justifiable and necessary. The Consul at Asuncion has been requested, to make inquiries and ship these persons to London, where they will bo taken charge of by the Queensland AgentGeneral and returned at once to Queensland. Tbe following is a list of some of those desirous of returning to Queensland :—W. H. Tbotnas, wife and 11 children ; R. £. Coleell, wife and child ; D. Hoare, wife and eight children; A. Schullz, wife and three children; H. Miedecke, wife and three children; W. G. Sherman, wife and two children ; D. E. Gunst, wife and three children ; S. P. Rundell, wife and five children ; T. W. D maid, wife and bwo chi dren; J. Beudle, wife and two children. In all, there are 10 men, 10 women and 40 children. It ie estimated that tbe cost of bringing these people back will be about £1,500.
