A meeting of the Council (Auckland section) of the National Association was held in the Rooms last night. There was a erood attendance, and Mr Edmund Ball, Vice-President, occupied the chair in the President's (Mr Massey) absence). Mr Inder was introduced to the Council as a new member. The various reports were received and dUcuß.«ed, and it was remitted to the Revising Committee to report upon the best arrangements that could be mado for the publication of "Liberty" during the succeeding year. A small Committee was likewise appointed to make the necessary arrangements for addresses at public meetings on political subjects in various districts, and it was pointed out that, while considerable euccees had been attained in many districts in this respect), it was contingent on the liberality of the general body of members and friends of the Auaociation to effectively and successfully carry out a perfect scheme in order to place before the mass of the people what the Council believed to be the highest principles of sound government and political economy. A number of cases were brought into Court yesterday morning:, in which certain business people were charged with having caused an obstruction by learing their dusb boxes on the footpath. The complaints had been laid by Mr Goldie, Inspector of Nuisances, at the instance of the City Council authorities, who merely wish to give warning thai they are determined thab the by-laws in respect of leaving boxes on the footpath shall be enforced. Tha defendants were leb off with a caution, His Worship observing tbab ho hoped the practice would not occur again. Aa tha Inspector has received instructions to proceed in future against) all persons breaking the by-law referred to, residents who employ tha dust contractor will do well to see that bheir dust bins are taken from the footpath as soon as the dusb has been removed.
