IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENTS.
The Hon. A. J. Cadman paid a visit to tho Kap. nt>a mine on Jan. 19th. Ho was accompanied by Mr.J. McGowan, M.H.R., Mr Cecil rlurtndge (Chairman of directors), Mr Battens (manage), and Mr Garland, nlrO Messrs Kidd, (. ilberd, Day end Gatland. The 1,000 feeb level was first inspected, where tho staam drill waa watched with interest. A new reef jusb cub was named bhe Cadman roef, and a very nice specimen takon out was handed by Mr Hartridgo to tho Hon. Minister for Mines as a souvenir of his visit to tho lowest depth yob reached in the Coromandel district. Aa an ovidenca of the t_cod futuro prospects of this mine ib in;.y be mentioned thab specimens were taken out from separate reefs ab four levels visited by Mr Cadman. From each reef benutifui golden stono was given to Mr Cadman. At the 910 level a reef jusb encountered was named tho Hartridge Mr Cadmun expressed great satisfaction ab tho appearance of the various reefs, and ol'i'ored tho use of the Government bore for another 100 feeb of prospecting, and also a subsidy if the Company thinks lib to use it. The presenb engine has winding power tor a depth of '2,000 foet. After ascending photo ..roups were taken of the party, and tho Company were entertained by Mrs Battens ab lunch. In the afternoon bhe party visited Preeoo's Point mine, where they were meb by Mr Baydell, the working manager, and by him shown over tho ground.
