LADIES' COLLEGE, REMUERA.
Ao the Ladies' College, Portland Road, Remuora, on December 17th, tho prizes won by Mrs Jones' pupils were presented to the girls by the Rev. W. Boatty, in the presence of a largo gathering of parents and friends of pupils. The following was the prize list:—Mr Towsey's prize for tho most popular girl in the school, voted for by tho pupils, was won by Miss Dorothy Ware. Scripture prizes : Daisy (. albraith, 1 ; Katy P«rk, 2 ; Ruth Galbraith, 3. For highest, daily marks : Form L, Misa Alice Young ; 11., Misa Lottie Court ; JIL, Miss Dorothy Ware ; IV., Miss Nora Gorrie ; V., Mi.s tfettie Bagley ; VI., Miss Jeannio Young. Prizes gained by examination marks : Form VI.. Nool Richardson ; V., Daisy Galbraith. French: Form L, Kitty Clark; 11., Blanch Gorrie; 111, Mildred Ryan. Latin: 1., Alice Young. Drawing: 1., May Cnmordn ; 111., Alice Cameron, Arithmetic: 1., Annie Gallagher and Martha Walker. Science : 1., Minnio Clarke ; II„ Camilla Steele. History, Lily Brewor ; geography, Nora Gorrie ; musical progress, Minnio Clark ; reading, Miss Cox ; general improvement, Kathleen Shera ; neodlework, M. Ryan ; deportment, Daisy Hoy; general neatness, Minnie Clark; writing end composition, Hilda Morrin and K. Woodward ; perfect neatness in dress, books, etc., Annie Gallagher ; best scholar in the school, Miss Arrowoll. Miss Nannie Young won the silver medal for the highest examination marks (691) in Form IV., Miss Dorothy Ware the {.old and silver medal for the highest examination marks (602) in Form 111., and Miss K. Clark the nold medal for the highest examination marks 833) in Form 11. The scholarship for 1897, decided by tho Rev. VV. Bea'ty, was won by Miss Alice Young with 609 marks. Rewards were also pre eented to Gladys Buddie, Ellen Richardson and Nellie Gulbraith.
The pupils presented Herr Schmibt with a ?melling salts and Mens. Britiauit with a walking stick, and Miss Holmden was presented by the Principal with a mark of the esteem in which she was held ior her attention to duty.
