THE HOLIDAYS.
In order that the whole of the Star literary and mechanical staffs may enjoy the Christmas holidays, there will be no issue of tbe S*ar on Friday (Christmaß Day) or Saturday (Boxing Day). Advertisers should make tbeir arrangements accordingly. Friday (Cbrietmaa Dayh the 25th inst., being a Post Offic. holiday, the Post OfSce will be closed. Mails usually despatened on Fridays will cloie at 7 p.m. on Thursday, tbe 24tb. Tbe Office will be open from 7 to 8 p.m. on Thwraday, tho 2£._j. for delivery of letters, including those usually delivered by letter c irrier. On Saturday, 2oth last. (Boxing Day), the Office will be open from 9to 10 a.in. ia all its branches, and there will ba one delivery by letter carrier, commencing at Ba. m. Sea-borne [ mails usually made up on that day after 30 <i.m. will be closed at (hat hour. Special attention is drawn to the hours ef closing the raailn for despatch by tbe outward 'Frisco mail steamer on Saturday, tbe 26.h inst. A number of holiday excnrpiona are announced by advertisement en page 2 of this issue.
