WATER SUPPLY.

(To the Editor.) Sir.—l am pieced to see I'liafc pomg farueyiajjf tsdiriduala are writing to your journal re our city water eapply. Last summer, with a much smaller population, wo went unpleasantly near having a water famine with nil its attendant horror?, and at present there seems tab« every indication of a continued drought. From the evidonco of your correspondents on Tuesday evening it would eeem that a temporary auxiliary supply could be secured at a comparatively email cost and trouble, and it ia to be hoped that the City Council will take proper steps to secure the city againsb such a calamity as a shortage of water would mean in thi* climate.

. While writing on sanitary topics I wiab to call attention to a» "evil drain" winch flows from the "wheel house afc Ponsonby Reservoir to tlie channel ih Karangahape Rood. The feul smelling matter flown along in front of several chops. The City Council maho other folks connect with the sowers, why dan'b they do the same themselves ?—I am, cCC,, IIUAJJiLE CIXIZEN.

" Wonderful !" •' Astonishing J" "Marvellous 1" The work of God !" 11 Miraculous 1" " How can he do it ?" and many like expressions were heard as the vast throng surged out of the City Hall last night, after witnessing the fourth and most interesting exhibition of tho Great Healer in relieving the sick ever performed in this part of the country. The fact that last night was the fourth public demontration sinco his advent in Auckland, packing the house to the doors, with hundreds turned away, is significant, in that it shows ib ie something more than novelty that attracts tho public to witness these uevnonatratious of tho power of animal magnetism. Familiarity with tbo magnetic phenomenon and his work does nob in any degree lesson the interest of the people, for last night the crowd was just as large, and tho enthusiasm was just aa intense, as that which marked the previous exhibitions. Every evidence of a roaliaabion of a great and philanthropic work being done by fierrman the Hoaler was manifested by the audience, and aD no time during the do monßtration was there a relaxation of tho attention that held tho assemblage from the raising of the curtain. At 8,30 o'clock tba curtain rose on as brilliant end intellectual an audience aa ever greeted actor, orator, or singer in this city, and Professor Hall, the Healer, and their aids, ought well to bo proud of their ability in bringing together such an aggregation of intelligence, wealth and culture, as as semblod to greet them last night. Professor Hall opened the demonstration with a powerful and logical dioeoureo on the subject of animal magnetism. There were many lossons to be learned from tho speaker's discourse, which, if taken home and obsorvod, would roeult in a better health for the precent generation and would insure a sturdy race in the future. He laid down rules for health that would be of the utmost benefit to mankind if observed. When Hermann the Healer was announced a rufflo of excitement passed over tho audience, and hie appearance on tho atage evoked hearty applause. No time was lost) in getting roady a patient on the stage, and uo lack of material was cxporiencod, for every disoaso in tho category was represented by fluttering human beings of both soxes and all ages. Those who desire private treatment will now have an opportunity to obtain same at the Star Hotel tho nexb ten daya only.
