AWHITU NOTES.

I Tha elecbion passed off here very quiofcly. 1 Tho " Major " was bahißd, but in Awhitu Lisa had a big majority. Ib is 60 ba hopad Mr Maiuey will do aa well for us as Major Harris, Tha licenss vote in this diainco is pretty well as we were. I am told thab the plans of tha new stonework at tha Awhitu Wharf are only waiting' the approval of the Government engineer, when tho tender of Mr Charles W. Short will be accepted. The work is to be of atone ami cement, and will bo started soon.
• Mr Edward P. Lodge, of Saa View, i* somewhat bolter its health. Ho was able to undertake the ride to tbo central booth on the 4th inst. to record his vote. Wo all hope that he may continue to gob stronger. A concert is to take place hero on the 11th inst. in aid of the children's feast at tho breaking-up of fcha school.
