A pleaeanb gathering took place on Satui^ay evening, when Messrs Coußins and Cousins entertained their employees at a dinner in honour of the approaching: marriage of Mr J. F. Cousins, one of the principals. Aboub sixty employees and a lew friends bat down to dinner, which was prorided by Mr T; McEwen in first-class stylo. Mr W. J. Cousins, the senior partner, occupied the chair, and expressed his pleasure at presiding over Ruch a gathering. After tho dinner, a number of toasts were drunk in non-intoxicating bumpers, the toast of the evening, "Our Guesti," being proposed by Mr Wither, foreman painter, who in Ids remarks spoke of the good feeling which had always existed between employer! and employees, and the respece which ona and all had for the partner to whom khey were then assembled to do honour. Mr Cousins suitably responded. Several other tcasts were drunk, which were interspersed with sodes and recitations. A very pleasant evening waa brought to a close at 11 p.m. by ringing of " Auld Lang Syne."
