Transactions were today made in the following:—Great Barrier, 3* Bd, 3s 9d ; Victor-Waihou, 2s; Wai'ai Ssufch/leSd; Young New Zealnnd, Is 4d ; Bunker's Hill, 3s 4d ; Four in Hand, 2s Id ; Hauraki Reefs, lid; Zaalandia, Is 2d; Cadman, sd; R-apai-Vermont, 10s.
National.—The old level has been cleaned out and enlarged up to the face, before starting to drive thia crosscut ahead. A few tons of quartz will bo broken from the big reef tihat has been cufc in this level, ns on trying some ef the atone a nice prospect of gold was obtained. The reef cut on the surfaco hai been intersected in the crosecub. It has been driven on for 12 feet, and is giving payable prospects of gold, in fact, better than where its was cub on the gurfiice.
Qiteen Victoria.—The leader is a little pinched at present. The No. 2 drive is now in a tetal distance of 135 feet. The reef being driven on South is about one foot thick, and hae a favourable appearance. • - Nellie.—The face of the hill has been stripped 50ft by Bft. There is a large reef sfb thick which, when broken down, shows a white and gray quartz of superior dejcription. Further along the face there are five leaders from 2 to 4 inches wide running into each other. The appearance all along the face is the beat description for gold-bearing reafs. Puriri.—No. 2 leader will average abeut six inches in thickness, and by pounding up some of the quartz in the pestle morbar ife givos a fair show of gold in the dish. Elvira.—A leader one foet thick has been cub which gives good prospects. .. New Mist.—Very little has so far been done on the outcrop of quartz, but its value will be tented in a few days. Empress.—Good dish prospects of loose gold are got from the rubble afe the intermediate level. The reef varies from two to three feet in width. On Aitken'a spur a small six-inch leader is giving good prospectc. Napier.—No. 2 leader ebill looks well, and a few pounds of picked stone have been obtained. Invicta.—The main reef i» now improving, a little gold being visible in portions of the etone. A.J.C.— The lode should be cub in No. 1 drive al; any time now, as water is leaking and thero are email voins of quartz in toe face. Jersey.—A nice minaral'seam was cut during the week. Bunker's Hill.—The water has ceased to rise in the thafc, and is new standing at 90 feet. Prospect.—The eastern crosscut is sbill in splendid sandstone country. Martha Extended. — In a few more days the drive should bo right under the outcrop. The Mataura tunnel is io 114 ft. Mount Aurum.—A leader three inches thick has been cut, which may prove to be a dropper from the voof. Buffalo.—During the' week a portion of No. 3 leader turned off towards the big reef. This has been followed, and what appears to be the wall of the big reef met with. Ib is a network of stringers, bub so far no <;old haa been seen. Great Unitkd. —Tke croaßcub is in 103 I feet, and is penetrating better sandstone, Norexa.—The Southern trench is ii most favourable brown sandstone. Colden Anchor.—The ground is tight, but shows sign* of improvement.
