ELECTION NOTES.
Our Hamilton correspondent writes : 11 There is little or no interest being taken in the election here. Mr Lang is still on tour addressing his constituents in every nook and cranny in the diatrict. At noon to-day Mr J. M. Shera addressed a largely attended nieating of timber employees, Gas Company's workmen, and other workers in Customs-SBroeS West, near the Saltwater Baths.
As the Parliamentary and local option polls will be taken afc the same titno in the various polling booths, is is feared that a good deal of oonfusioa will arise through voiistsr papers being depoeited io the wrens? ballot-boxes- VV~e aro asked to suggest that fche ballob-boxaa should bs kept as far apart as possible, and under large placards " Vote for raembors sf Pariiamonu " and " Local Option Foil," respectively.
The Hon. E. MitcheUon will arrive in Auckland tomorrow morning.
In our advertising co'umns the Council of fche National Association (Auckland ecefcion) publish a list of candidates for the various electorates whom they have unanimously decided to recommend to members and friends of the Association fco vote for. The Association has also published a leaflet, giving practical hints to voters how to Si! up their voting papers, and another leaflet containing the manifesto and platform of the Asaociar-ioa. At the meeting of the Board of Education this afternoon, the question of doing the schools on Friday noxt on the occasion ot the ceneral election wrh diecu-^eri. It was resolved to take no definite action in the matter, but be guided by lha provisions of the law. Is was pointed out. that a number of the achoolß muse bo closed a3 they were being used ss polling booths. A mooting of all men who have served in Her Majesty* forces afloat or ashore, in the Imperial or Colonial forces, ia called for this otreninjj in Mr Thompson's Committee room.
