FIRST OF THE SEASON.

Tee first wool sales of tlie season, under the auspices of the Auckland Vvoolbrokera1 Association, wera held to-day in the Wool Excbsnge Rooms, Queen-street, commencing ab 9.30 o'clock. There was a general fall in prices of from id to ifd per lb. The total number of bales catalogued was about 4,500, a considerably larger number than •t the first aale last season. There waa a large attendaaco of buyers, iacluding Mesera Mureacroyd, Pricej Slator, SuSherlasd, Warnoek, Ireland, (Jolbeck and ethers,

Bidding was brisk up to from Jd to £d par 'olesg than last year* prices. Lonjrwool ranjod from 6d to 8d ; crossbred from 6d t(>7f; merino from s|d to 6.} d ; and faulty wool from 5d co s§tJ per lb. Messrs G. W. liinsey and Sons followed on with a catalogue of about SSO bales, Mr "• B. Kingewell acting as auctioneer. The wool, as throughout the sale, was hardly in aa good condition as last Benson, being somewhat heavy owing to ito Kreaßy nature, cocaequcnb on a dry »ORSon, and it> was 'therefore waaty.
