THE FRANKLIN ELECTION.
We aro glad to hear that Mtijor Harris is making good headway with hia candidature for Franklin. The worthy Major has served the colony not only ea a country reproeentatiTß in many parliaments, but bb a Tolunfceer soldier in fcho days, now bejrinning fco bo forgobten, when peaceful settlers' sons had tho opportunity to show their patriotism by risking life and limb ia the defence of the scattered homesteads of thisproyinceagainst tho attacks of armed Bavages. He haa always been a staunch and consistent Liberal since he ontered tha House a« a inomber of tho party which first placed Sir Goortro Grey in power. Throughout his public career, he has always worked hard for hia constituency, and no on© can soy he hnn made a profitable trade of politics. Ho stands to-day a simple country pettier, consistent in bin principles, a«d a tried repreeentative of Franklin. We cannot think hici claims upon tho constituency aro forgotten, buS hope to nee the electors doing credit to tbenjflelves by returning tho gallanb Major at the top of tho poll.
