FOREST QUEEN (WAIKOROMIKO).
(FROM OBR OWN CORRESFONDENT.)
Coromanoel, this day.
This claim, which is being worked by a private syndicate, continues 60 lock wall, and the work of opening up the different reefs and generally prospecting the ground is being pushed steadily ahead. Driving snd rising from tho low level is proceeding. This level has now been advanced over 120 feob on the reef, which varies in aiza from bis inches to one foot in thickness, and is encased in a splendid class of country, and it is from this source thab ths half ton of ore recently crushed At the Thames School of Mines for the highly satisfactory rotum of 7oz 12el wb, or over lloz per ton, was obtained. The rise is new np a distance of 20 feat oa the reef, and gold is occasionally seen in the stone when breaking down, whila loess prospects era gob by washing. On tha Greab Western spur a reef which is composed of blue pug and quartz intermixed ia also being prospected. This body is heavily mineralised, and colours of gold can be obtained by washing the pug and also by pounding ths stone. The general outlook of ths claim ia a very favourable ane, and ib ii aero than probable that as developments proceed this outlaok will considerably improve, and demonstrate with other neighbouring proparties ths gold producing character of fehi Waikoromiko district.
