NEWMARKET.
The ordinary meeting of the Newmarket Borough Council was hold last evening, Mr J. to. LaXon (Mayor) presiding. Mr Hogg, Town Clerk, said it was his pleasant duty as Returning Officer to report the reelection unopposed of Mr Luxon as Mayor. The Council appointed Mr Laxon the Council's representative to vote at the forthcoming Charitable Aid Board election. It was decided to a«k the Gas Company to extend the gat service down Railway street, the residenoa at the bottom of that nfcreab having asked for a gas lamp near the railway crossing. Ib wae decided, in consequence of a complaint by Mr Leaf, of Railway Terrace, to pub a etop to a nuisance near bhafc gentleman's residence caueed by a defective sewer.
