Wellington, this day. Mr H. D. Bell re-appeared as Crown Prosecutor at the Supreme Court to-day, the dissolution of Parliament having enabled him to resume his former position. Exdetective Kirby, who was broughb up for sentence, made a long address, practically a denial of tbe truth of the charge. His Honor said, if sentence had been passed immediately after committal of the crime ib would have been heavy, bub, as the prisoner must have undergone considerable mental agony, he would sentence him to bhree years' penal servitude.
