THE AGRICULTURAL SHOW.

The Auckland Provincial Agricultural Association brought their annual show at Epsom to a most successful conclusion on Saturday afternoon. Throughout the whole day thera was a consbanb stream of people to the ground, bub after noon ib Bob in in real earnest, and tho nambor from town anxious to visib bhe show was so greab thateventually all manners of conveyance wefe brought into requisition and became gradually exhausted. Tbe Tramway Company and 'bias proprietors did a roaring business. Ib ia estimated that ab half pasb three o'clock fully eleven thousand persons wore on bhe ground. The programme specially gob up for bhe general public in the afternoon was much appreciated. Sborbly before two o'clock the draught stock, .followed by a number of turnouts, and beaded by tho Newton braas band, were paraded. In bhis procession wore nob included the draught entires, who were walked round a ring in front of the grandstand. Gaily bedecked with their prize ribbons and with their mains ornamented they looked a pretty sight. Tbe lighb division of horses, togebher with lady and gentlemen riders, drags, dog carts, buggies, etc., to the number of over ISO, wore in tho second parade. ' Tbe whole, which waa under tho able direction of Mr W. Duuwoodio, waa very effective. For the honour of best lady rider thero wero isen competitors, Mrs E. H. Kelly being declared the winner. Sho rode Hunkna. Miss Kerr Taylor en Iko was placed second and Misa L. Walker on Muecatelle third. Tho ladies rodo over .several fences. For tho beat gentlemen rider Mr E. D. O'Rorke deservedly took the priza. He rode Saxon, who took tho fences in greab style. Tho winner's scab and handling, and tho general " gob up " of bis mount, was splendid, and the popular gentleman rider was accorded quite au ovabion at tho finish of the competition. Mr A. E. Solby, jun., on Albion, was placod second and Mr J. Solby on Defatner third. There were altogether 23 competitors for tho prize. The priza for tbe be_b boy rider waa keenly contested. Douglas Sharpie.' was placed first, bub was disqualified on account of his pony boing ovor tho heitibb stipulated in tho conditions. The first prize was awarded to Master Shftw, Laurence Taylor being second. The weight-guessing competition attracted some HI entries as agatnsb about 50 last yoar, the amounb taken, £9 Is, boing moro than ■sufficient bo cover tho expense?. Tbo prizes are £1 (first) and 10~(-ecoud) for the closest estimate of tbe dead weight of three ah op, a cow, or a bullock, two prizas for each lot, while a champion prize, £2 2s, will also be allotted to tho closest estimate of bhe dead weight of the three exhibits. The whole of tbe beasts will be killed on Wednesday, the returns will be i_.:;do up on Friday, and tho successful competitors then announced. Mr Gardener selected the cattle for competition, which wore lent by Messrs Heilaby Brother., and Messrs Ruchorford and Thompson conducted tho competition. On tbo wbolo the Show was a complete success, and tho general arrangements ] reflect credit on Mr E. Hall (Secretary) and the Working Corn:uifcteo of tho i?how,'

Among the industries was a di.pluy of separators for privaie dairies nnd small creameries. This was ono of the atbractiona of tho Show. Mr Herman Oleson, tho dairy export and representative of tho Delaval Company in Australasia, was in charge, the local agents being Messrs T. and S. Morrin. Another feature was a show of dairy appliances by Mr Albert Fischer, a simplex cream separator being greatly admired. A river nnd tidal pump patented by Mr John McColl in March last was alao exhibited and provod a great attraction.
