THE WELLINGTON MATCH.

Wellington, Saturday. A stiff northerly wind was blowiug when the match was resumed this morning, which increased as the day wore on, and made ib anything bub pleasant. Tbe abbendance was nob much affected by bhe weather, aud the local Associabion will make a prolib of about £50. Iredale and Hill scored fairly fast in bhe early stages, and took the score above 100, the former being missed once. After thab fielding became remarkably poor, catch after catch being missed, and enabling tbe biifcsmen to make a much better racord than thoy really demurred. Giffen waa missed, Trobb was leb oil' three timea in making 14, and Gregory was favoured in the same way. Giffen, who camo out ahead despite his lameness, was very patient ab the start, and only woke up when Trott cair_3 in. Thereafter he relapsed into the plodding groove, and took a long time ovor runs. Trumble played steadily, bub Jonea went in for a slogging innings. Had the innings been closed half an hour earlier the match mighb have been finished, bub only two hours wero lefb to get rid of 18 men, and bhe task proved too much, the match ending in a draw, Wellington making 10S for 14 wickota.
