THE WATER SUPPLY.

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—l wan quite pleaaed re your reference to the water supply at Seccombe's Brewery, Kyber Pass. More than twenty years ago, when our wells in Queen-soreet, __bert-Btreeb, etc., e»ve out, when our oaly supply was the Domain ponds, we had at that time recourse to Seccombe's supply We laid a pipe from the brewery to the Domain, and paid Mr Seccombe ah per thonHftnd trallona for all the water that ha pumped. If my memory is reliable, the then supply from the eaid brewery would bu qoite equal to our Edtrecomb's Creek supply, which in time of need is very considerable. Aa the mains go down Kyber Pass to Newmarket ritrht pasfc the brewery, and as the well is considerably above the road, I am expecting the water would gravitate at any rate to some of the lower levela in tho districts of Newmarket and Pnrnell, thus saving bhe cosi of pumping and other attendant costs. If Seccombe's well ia as reliable now as it was then, our boroughs and city havo in h a very valuable standby of water of undoubted quality. In those days McCready and Co. would nob let mo have water for my horses, so I h:\d to steal it after AreCready, George and Co, bad gone to bed.—l am, etc., W. Ckowthek.
