ELECTION NOTES.
Me Arthur Withy will address the Parneii electors this evening at the Victoria Hall.
We'publish on page 3 speeches delivered by Sir G. M. O'Korke at Ho wick, Milt. Thompson at) Xokafioka, and Mr Lang as Mercer.
It is understood that the general election will be held in the first v/eek of December. Ho official notice has, however, been received yet by the Registrar of Electors. A meeting of the Knights oi Labour was held last evening, when a resolution was passed expressing hearty approval of the candidature of Messrs Fowlds and Rosser, and promising their support to these gentle men.
Lasfe evening Mr W. F. Backiand addressed a meeting of Maaukau electors in the Eilerslia Hall, Mi 0. G. Hill presiding. The attendance was not: large. Mr Backiand severely criticised the policy of the present Governmeai;, especially condemning their finances. He traversed at iaogth ihs borrowing policy and the backing legislation, and said rhe conn try was imperilled by the policy of the Sudden Government!. At the close Mr Baeklacd was accorded a vote of t>baaH3 and confidence on the caobicn ot Mr A. Austin.
A meeting of supporters of Sir G. M. O'Eorke'a candidature for the Miinak&u seat, wftis held iaso evening in the Oa&hcmga Public Hail. There way agood attendance, and a 6crong committee, wish two sabconicaitcees, was formed to assist) Sir M'turica in his candidature.
Mr G. Fowlds addressed a large meeting of electors ab So. Sepolchre's -Schoolroom last evening. - He defended his position aa an independent candidate, and deait wish several questions of interest:, including Old Ago Pensions, Unimproved Values Bili, and the Eiectiva Executive. He wa3 accorded a unanimous vote of thanks and confidence at the close of hi 3 address.
Last evening Major Harris, candidate for Fr&nkiia, addressed a large meeting in the M&ngere schoolroom, Mr James Robertson presiding. The speaker's address was on the same lines aa those delivered elsewhere, and was listened to with great attention. At the close Mr Kirk bride proposed a hearty vote of thasks, and complimented Major Harris on the straightforward and courteous maones1 in which he had anawered questions. M&jojf Harris hm had to postpone his Waioku meeting to the 25th and the Puiii meeting to the 25ih mat., owing to one of the haiia being engaged. Mr Sainnel Vaila 'definitely announces himself as a candidate for Paniall.
