A deputation consisting of the Revs. W, J. Williams, A. Peters and Messrs Morgan, Muldoon and J. W. Carr waited upon the Hon. T. ThompsoH, Minister of Justice, this afternoon to inquire into tho reasons for the re-appointment of Constable Russell to the police force, and to enter a protest against the step taken. Mr Thompson in reply said that with all due courtesy to the deputation, he could not give the reasons for bis action to A private deputation, but that he was fall; prepared to answer all such cruesfeions oo the public platform.
