MEETING OF FRUITGROWERS.

THE MILK SUPPLY QUESTION,

At the nieebincc of the Waikato Fraibgrowers' Association at Ohaupo yesterday, considerable discussion took place regarding the proposed Act dealing with orchard pests, copies of which had been forwarded by Mr F. W. Lang, M.H.R. The members were strongly averse to any legislation whatever in the matter with the exception of stopping theimporbation of infected fruit. The Fresidont, Mr Wm. Johns, stated he had wired to Mr Lang asking him to strenuously oppose the Orchard Pesb Acfe inasmuch as ib was oppressive, and as a specific cure had been found for the peats enumerated, and unlimited powers were given to inspectors, Mr Lang had replied thac he fully ondoreed the Association's opinion, and would do his utmost in the direction indicated.

Ib was decided to recommend thab the next meeting of the Fruitgrowers' Conference be held at Ohaupo, and a Committee consisting of Messrs W. Johns, J, C. Potts, G. J. Mann, Obye Karl (?) and J. T. Edward was appointed to make bho necessary arrangements. The milk questiou was fairly setbled aba meeting held at Ohaupo yesterday, ai which the following letter from Messrs Reynolds and Co. was read :—" In the event of the published schedule of prices no* averaging 2|d per gallon for 36 milk for eight mouths from lafc September to 30bh April next, we hereby agree to make up

tho. deficiency ab tho end of. the season of any creamery that> sapplies no less than a aggregate quantity of 25 per. cenb more milk than was supplied during bhe same period for the preceding season, 189596, providing that anyone to be entitled to participate must Bcarb supplying on the day ' the creamery opens, and continue to do so regularly- throughcrab the- season, the milk oupplied by fcho&a who cammence after the opening date to be- added to the- aggregate of all who start promptly. After considerable discasßion, during which Mr Reynolds- informed the meeting that all the creameries would come under the 500 gallon clause, a vote of thanks was passed to Mr Reynolds and tho Company for the manner in which they ablaab accepted bhe terms offered by the suppliers.
