MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.

City of London.—Tho drive on the Vale of Avoca reef has been extended eight feet, and when breaking down nice colours of gold wore seen in the quartz. Kinsella's Owiiaroa Freehold.-—The half-yearly meeting of shareholders called for at 3 p.m. yesterday, lapsed for want of a quorum. The balance sheet submitted, showed receipts, £900; expenditure to 30th Juno, 1896, £205 6s 3d, leaving a balance in the Bank at that date of £694 13s 9d. The reporb of the directors stated that on the surface of tbe spur that runs through the mine, they found a large quantity of loose quartz similar in character to the samples sent previously, which were found rich in gold. There ia v very great probability thab these stones can only have come from some lode in the spur. To test this point it was decided to put in a drive at righb angles to tho usual course of the reefs in the district, and a contract was let for 200 feeb of driving. .

Royal Sovereign.—We are meeting with good looking country and stone.

Stanley.—Tho drive to cut the Wheel of Fortune leader is now in 48 feet. The country is still very hard. A reef of very hard stone one foob wide has been cut through.

Miowkra United. —While driving on tbo No. 1 reef a lode came across the face, whidh from all appearance, tho manager thinks, is a largo and splendid roof. Mr J. F. Bowes has' tho flotation of the Miowera United.property in hand.

Waverley.—The lode has developed into a nice reef five feeb wide, fall of mineral and showing gold freely. Tho stone looks well and carries streaks of black sulphides.
